Bartolomeo Bulgarini

1300 (ca.) in Siena; † 1378 in Siena - 14th century - Trecento - Sienese School

Bartolomeo Bulgarini, also known as Bulgarino or Bologhini, was a talented Italian painter from Siena. He was part of the Sienese School of painting, which is known for its use of Byzantine-inspired figures and traditional gold leaf aesthetic. He was a contemporary of other notable Sienese painters such as Simone Martini, Pietro Lorenzetti, and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and was part of the generation that followed Duccio. He was highly regarded during his lifetime as one of the most skilled painters of the mid-14th century, and was the only one of his generation to be mentioned by Giorgio Vasari in his writings.
