Purpose: What Fondo Oro Magazine is

Fondo Oro Magazine is an independent digital publication dedicated to Italian gold-ground panel painting from approximately 1250 to 1430. It exists to serve 1. collectors, 2. art dealers, and 3. other enthusiasts of this art β€” people who buy, sell, research, and care about works from the Duecento, Trecento, and early Quattrocento.

This is not a peer-reviewed academic journal. Academic researchers are welcome, but we do not calibrate our editorial voice or content depth for scholarly publication requirements.

Audience: Who we write for

Our primary audience is collectors and art dealers active in the Italian Primitives market. Our secondary audience includes curators, art advisors, conservators, and informed enthusiasts.

Content: What we cover

Fondo Oro Magazine publishes content across four areas:

Exhibition dates, reviews & previews, Auction highlights & results, Publication recommendations, Educational resources.

Coverage is limited to works falling within the publication's defined scope: Italian gold-ground panel paintings produced between approximately 1250 and 1430. Works adjacent to this tradition β€” Byzantine icons, Spanish Gothic panels, northern European gold-ground works β€” may be covered where they directly intersect with the Italian tradition.

Standards: Editorial standards

All content published by Fondo Oro Magazine is written or reviewed by the editor. Factual claims are based on established scholarship, museum documentation, auction records, and primary institutional sources.

Fondo Oro Magazine operates with full editorial independence and is not beholden to any publisher, museum, gallery or auction house.

Commercial relationships: Transparency & disclosure

Any commercial relationship β€” including sponsored content, paid listings, or partnerships β€” is clearly identified as such. Sponsored or promoted content is always labelled and is editorially distinct from independent coverage. Commercial relationships do not influence editorial decisions.

Publication recommendations (books, catalogues, exhibition catalogues) reflect the editor's genuine assessment. Where a publisher or institution has provided a review copy, this is noted.

Press & submissions: Working with us

Museums, galleries, auction houses, and publishers are welcome to submit press materials, exhibition announcements, and catalogue information for editorial consideration. Submission does not guarantee coverage. All materials should be sent to info@fondo-oro.art with the subject line Press Submission.

Corrections: Errors & corrections

We take factual accuracy seriously. If you identify an error in our website or coverage, please contact us at info@fondo-oro.art. Confirmed corrections are made promptly and noted within the affected article.

Fondo Oro Magazine is published by Roberto De Simone, Bonn, Germany.
