Gentile da Fabriano
c. 1370 in Fabriano; † 1427 in Rome - 14th & 15th century - Trecento - Quattrocento
Born as Gentile di Nicolò Massio (c. 1370–1427) from the Marche, whose Adoration of the Magialtarpiece (1423, Uffizi) represents the high point of International Gothic in Italian painting. Gentile combined luxuriant tooled gold, punched haloes, and raised gesso ornamentation with an unprecedented naturalism.
